I have decided on a new monthly theme! Huzzah! It is "Things that Give One Pause." Just a note or a scene or anything, really, that makes one stop and go "huh, fancy that!"
Today's moment: seeing my friend's awesome chair-fort.
You remember those awesome forts you used to make when you were, like, five? Consisting of chairs and sheets? Your parents would have to straddle this and climb over that in order to traverse their own goddamn living room. These were good times! My friend went to visit her boyfriend before he is deployed to Iraq. They stayed in a hotel room and made a giant fort out of their room. What better way to memorialize a life to which you can never return as you were before than to relive one of your best child-hood memories. Even if you do make it back, you'll never be the same, again. It's almost like dying, but with more sunlight. And you can still feel pain once your life has passed you by.
