The cavein and the dream

In Meridome down in the deep
The lanterns only light
A younger boy of only twelve
Would through the night all toil and delve
And rarely ever sleep.

But miles away in Aerondore
A girl of wheaten hair
Who had a voice of birds so wild
Who sang but rarely spoke or smiled
A soul so sweet and still so mild
Lived behind gilded doors.

Year came and passed but then one night
While struggling within dreams
The girl she overcame her beasts
And drifted o'er through restless sleep
To find the boy still working deep
And dreaming of his plight.

She said "do come away with me
"I'll see you safe and comfortable,
"And if you could but come away
"And wake to remember this in day
"Then free you'll be and comewhatmay
"You'll run and know you're free."

The dream it vanished as like as smoke
And the boy began to rouse
He went to work on down the street
He worked all day to toil and sweat
And couldn't remember his dream so sweet
That vanished when he woke.

And on that day a storm arose
Poseidon's angry growl
Had he but the chance to flea
Or else remembered the warning of his dream
He could have been saved and living free
Instead of in rubble e'er enclosed.

And that fair girl awoke entombed
Surrounded by her lonely room
She woke to find her things all changed
To those of ragged horrid chains
What she perceived to be the rains
Her prison was her room.

She would remember that fateful boy
Who woke before he ran
They could have been alive today
But neither took the dream away
Nor heeded warning when they may
And so are now destroyed.
