Library Tuesdays - Go to the department of origin for help filling out your form!

A lot of people come to us (the library) for help filling out various forms. FAFSA is what we need to help people with the most (that's a federal student financial aid), but today I had a rather different request. It was a patron who comes in quite often and needs help with simple tasks like uploading a picture to his facebook. Why doesn't he ask the reference librarian, I hear you querying? Well, that is because if it has anything to do with computers, the elderly reference librarian automatically passes the patron off to me. Yay. Gee, thanks! (<--- sarcasm) So this one patron knows to bee-line for me when he needs help with anything on the computer.
Today, he needs help filling out an appeal form for school. Not just help. Basically, a major re-write. I spent a good 45 minutes going through what he should say where (again, clearly indicated on the form). It doesn't help that he freaks out at the teensiest provocation. For instance, the computer is loading a screen and it blinks. "Where'd it go? What just happened? What do I do!?!?" Don't get me wrong, I like the guy and everything...I'm just sad that he missed the information boat so thoroughly.
By the end, we came to realize that after all that, he still needed to talk to his academic adviser before he could fill anything out.
Sheesh!

On another note, the halls between the cafe and the Math and Science department smell like someone drank a ton of stale beer, threw it up, then tried to cover up the smell by dumping Victoria Secret au-de-skank body lotion on the site.

Thank goodness Tuesday is almost over!
