Lymph meditations

If you're like me, winter means colds, mucus, and not getting out very much. You would think that this translates to more time on the mat, right? But, unfortunately for me, when I can't breathe, I can't do yoga. Bummer, I know. Irronically enough, however, yoga is just what I need during these gloomy months of almost-non-stop-nose-running. Upside-down poses ("inverted poses") like downward facing dog, wide-legged-standing bend, and forward bend sends lymph to your respiratory organs, which are oftentimes the most infected (think colds, flu, etc.). This charges your immune system and clears out whatever sneaky bacteria might be lurking there.

Here's a great sequence to help clear out the lungs and get that lymph moving.

Yet another reason to get moving, flowing, and balanced during the winter months. And yet another incentive to get the guest room cleared out so I can have my yoga studio back!
