Buckwheat groat porridge

So this morning I experimented with buckwheat groats
I have to say, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting.  It wasn't as good as I was hoping either, however.  I think next time I will adjust the recipe for one person, and use much less milk/cinnamon.
Overall, though, it was good and filling.  The perfect summer morning scarfage.  Make sure the soak the buckwheat groats overnight or at least for an hour.  Rinse them off - there will be a sticky syrup that comes off of the groats.  I think this is how it's supposed to be (?!?!?)

The recipe called for 2c groats. and 1 1/5c almond milk.  That was too much.  So instead I did 1c groats and 3/4c almond milk.  Still too much.  Next time, I'll just play it by eyeballing it.

1/2-1 teaspoon vanilla.  Groats, milk, and vanilla blend up in a blender or food processor.  Add sweetener (honey or agave) and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and blend some more!

Mine came out really runny, but I think that's because I added too much milk.  Here it is!  Topped with some more cinnamon for garnish.  Because the thing you need most at 5AM is garnish. lol

And that's that!  I hope to try this again with more experience under my belt.  It was the same way with the quinoa.  I think I just need to fail a couple times so I know how to adjust the recipe.  It's easier to work with foods you know intimately - and there's no better way to get intimate with food (*echem) than to fail spectacularly!
